WICHITA — Two McPherson High bowlers competed on Friday in the Class 5-1A state championships at North Rock Lanes.
On the girls’ side, it was a great day for the Bullpups’ Bailey Holton, who broke into the Top 20 by finishing 16th. She started slowly with a 151, but caught fire in her final two games for a 197 and 226 for a 574 series.
Alanna Dierking of St. James was first with a 712. Goddard Eisenhower won the team title, followed by Great Bend and St. James Academy.
McPherson’s Carl Frazier took 47th place on the boys’ side after games of 205-231-157 for a 593 series. Emporia’s Braden Schuler was the champion with a 768, which included a perfect 300 game on his opening series. He helped Emporia to the team championship, with Topeka Seaman second and Wichita Heights third.
