The Class 4A Division I State Basketball Tournament pairings have been announced.

On Wednesday at the Bicentennial Center, the McPherson Bullpup girls play the final game at 8:15 p.m. against Labette County. Both teams are 20-2 and the winner is on a collision course with defending champion and No. 1 seed Bishop Miege (22-0), which takes on Andale (10-12) in the 6:30 p.m. game.

In the other half of the bracket, No. 2 seed Wellington (22-0) plays DeSoto (14-8) in the first game of the day at 3:00, while Paola (20-2) goes up against Abilene (18-4) at 4:45.

Meanwhile, the MHS boys — who are seeking a 3-peat — take a 21-1 record into their 6:30 p.m. opener Thursday against Cinderella entry Rose Hill, which is 8-14 after winning its sub-state. Two of its losses are of the lopsided variety to the Bullpups as the teams are in the same league.

If MHS wins, it will play the winner of Andover Central (18-4) and Wamego (19-3), which play the 8:15 p.m. game Thursday.

On the other side of the bracket, Coffeyville (13-9) is matched against Paola (20-2) at 3 p.m., while Eudora (16-6) takes on Miege (19-3) at 4:45.
