Brad Underwood made it three-for-three today.
The McPherson native was named as Southland Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Stephen F. Austin University Lumberjacks to yet another conference championship.
Underwood, a 1982 McPherson High graduate, is the first coach in league history to earn the top coaching honor three straight years. The ‘Jacks were 18-0 in conference play, just as they were last year. In his first year they were 17-1, so he is a stunning 55-1 in his three years. He is 86-13 overall and his .869 percentage is the fourth-highest ever for an NCAA coach through three seasons.
His top player, Thomas Walkup, was named Southland Conference Player of the Year.
SFA’s Demetrious Floyd was named to the second team, Clide Geffrard was chosen to the third team and Trey Pinkney was selected to the All-Defensive Team, in addition to earning league honorable mention.
