The speed limit on Avenue A will be consistent when the road reopens following the reconstruction project currently underway.

The McPherson Police Department requested the raising of the limit to 30 miles per hour through the entire corridor from Main Street to Wall Park.

“Currently, part of the west end is signed at 25 miles per hour,” Jeff Woodward, McPherson City Public Works Director, said. “To reduce any confusion this may cause, and to be consistent with other residential areas, we feel it makes sense to make the change.”

The request was approved by the McPherson City Commission unanimously.

As for the Avenue A reconstruction project, itself, the pavement on phase II of the reconstruction project has been completely removed.

“[The contractor] is about 50 percent complete with the hauling in the common excavation,” Woodward said. “The cement treated base should start middle of the week, weather permitting.”
