Central Christian College’s softball team doubled its season victory total at the expense of crosstown rival McPherson College on Tuesday at Wall Park.

Central had won its first game of the year before dropping 13 straight. But it won both games against Mac in thrilling fashion to improve to 3-13.

In the opener, the Lady Tigers were down 3-2 but rallied for a 9-6 victory as they scored five runs in the sixth to key the comeback.

Central pounded out 16 hits, including three apiece by Kasi Kraus, Sydney Nelson and Mariah Grijalva, while Mandy Jacques drove in three. Emily Davis and Katie Holmes collected three apiece hits for Mac.

Kraus was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Tigers finished off the sweep 7-6, again overcoming an early deficit. Mac led 4-1 before Central erupted for four runs in the fifth and added two in the sixth.

Grijalva, Kraus and Jacques had two hits each for CCC. Holmes, Simone Donaldson and Chevelle Komar had two apiece for Mac. Cristina Insua was the winning pitcher.

The Bulldogs, now 4-14, will be hosting a 14-team tournament this weekend at Wall Park that also includes Central.
