For the third straight year, McPherson High graduate Brad Underwood has guided his Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks into the NCAA Tournament.

And his team will be going up against none other than Big 12 member West Virginia on Friday, with game time 6:10 p.m.

Underwood, a 1982 MHS graduate, will be going up against the coach who brought him to Kansas State, Bob Huggins. Underwood served as an assistant under both Huggins and Frank Martin at KSU, then followed Martin to South Carolina for a year.

Underwood’s first SFA team pulled off an upset of VCU in the NCAA first round two years ago before losing to UCLA. Last year the Lumberjacks lost in the first round to Utah.
