McPherson High boys basketball coach Kurt Kinnamon has announced information for the McPherson Spring Instructional Basketball League for both boys and girls.
Highlights of the league include instruction in skill-building stations and then those skills will be applied in game situations. Fundamentals include shooting, ballhandling, offensive movement and how to practice on your own.
During game situations, on-court instruction is provided. The No. 1 priority is to make this a totally learning experience.
Due to KSHSAA rules, only three players who have played on the same school team may play on the same team, so registration for seventh- and eighth-graders will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This is a great opportunity for kids to stay sharp before summer basketball and MAYB fires back up.
Sessions will be held on Sundays, including March 20, and then April 10, 17 and 24. All sessions are one hour in length at McPherson High School.
Here are the divisions:
• 1:00 — Coed K-3 (8-foot goals will be used)
• 2:00 — Girls grades 4-6
• 3:00 — Girls grades 7-8
• 4:00 — Boys grades 3-5
• 5:00 — Boys grades 6-8.
One session costs $20, two for $35, three for $45 and four for $55. There is a family fee of $100 for all family members for all sessions.
