The McPherson High School's carpentry class already has a buyer for the house they will be building for the 2016-2017 school year.
Knowing who the buyer is this far in advance of construction benefits the school as well as the buyer who can now provide input on the design and the blueprint of the house.
“It's so much easier to work with people we're going to build it for because we can customize it for them,” said Bryce McFarland, assistant principal and Career and Technical Education director at MHS.
McPherson's Board of Education approved the sale at their meeting earlier this week to Jeff and Shannon Schneider, currently of Inman, who have already completed the paperwork and provided the earnest money. Theirs will be the 49thhouse built by the high school class and is anticipated to have a value of $70,000.
