BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Brad Underwood and his Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have done it again.
For the second time in three years, the Lumberjacks have shocked in the world in the NCAA Tournament.
Going up against his former boss, the McPherson native Underwood guided No. 14-seed Stephen F. Austin to a stunning 70-56 upset of No. 3 seed West Virginia, coached by Underwood’s mentor Bob Huggins.
Two years ago, Underwood led SFA to an upset of Shaka Smart’s VCU team before losing to UCLA in the second round.
Next action for Underwood’s team is at 1:40 p.m. Sunday against Notre Dame. The game will be aired on CBS.
