Saint Mary’s baseball team swept McPherson College here Sunday to take three of four in the weekend series.

The teams had split on Saturday.

In Game 1 Sunday, Mac had a 4-3 lead before the Spires scored the game’s final eight runs for an 11-4 success.

The Bulldogs rapped out 12 hits, but left too many runners on. Trent Smith, Bryce Strecker, Matt Bryan and Jackson Goodmiller all had two hits for the Bulldogs.

The Spires won the finale 9-3, using a pair of four-run innings to spark the victory. Mac again was double digits in hits with 10, but couldn’t bunch them together for a big inning.

Bryan had three more hits and Reily Martin added two.

Mac is now 4-8 in the KCAC and 14-15 overall. It plays Tuesday at Southwestern Christian University.
