The girls soccer team gets the honor of kicking off the McPherson High spring sports season on Tuesday.
MHS goes to Salina South, with the JVs playing at 5:00 and the varsity at 6:30.
The Bullpups are coming off a runner-up state finish in 2015, losing to Topeka Hayden in the finals 1-0 at McPherson Stadium. Every starter except for goalie Sydney Ruder is back.
“Our aim is to build off what we did last year with so many girls returning,” MHS coach Chris Adrian said. “The team has looked really strong in practice the last few days and the girls are ready to play someone other than themselves. We have a couple girls that are not 100 percent fit, but other than that the girls are ready to go. This year we won’t be sneaking up on anyone as everyone knows we have a strong group returning, so I’m interested to see how the girls play when they aren’t coming in as underdogs.”
A complete preview will be available in the FREE Mid Kansas Sports Magazine that will be available next week.
