Central Christian College’s softball team upset Sterling College 6-5 in the first game here Monday before the Warriors came back to earn the split with an 11-3 victory.

Sterling had entered the day with a sparkling 13-5 record. Central is now 6-18 on the season.

Kristen Hall had a monster first game with four RBIs, while Kasi Kraus collected three hits and scored three runs, while also picking up the win on the mound. Central led the game 5-0 after three innings and 6-0 after five before Sterling charged back to make things interesting.

Sterling used a pair of five-run innings to win the second game. Cristina Insua garnered three hits for CCC. Morgan Hildebrandt added two.

“I must first say what a joy it was to win over Sterling,” CCC coach Mark Ritchhart said.  “My players are starting to see that they are just as talented as the other teams we play. We are making improvements in every area of the game —  pitching, defense, hitting, base running, teamwork. I am excited about our future with God at the center."

CCC is on the road today at College of Saint Mary in Omaha.
