Softball Bulldogs swept by Saint Mary

LEAVENWORTH — The bats were relatively quiet for McPherson College’s softball team on Wednesday as it opened the KCAC portion of its schedule being swept by Saint Mary.

The Bulldogs lost the first game 5-0 as they were limited to five hits, two by McPherson High product Azaria Romero. Saint Mary scored all five of its runs in the third inning. Katie Usdansky threw three scoreless innings of relief of starter Sydney Lang.

In Game 2, the Spires strung together three straight innings of three runs each for a 10-2 victory. Katie Holmes and Cassandra Moreno collected two hits apiece for Mac.

The Bulldogs, now 5-23 overall, play two more KCAC games on Saturday in York, Neb.
