MOUNDRIDGE — Douglass dealt Moundridge’s softball team a pair of losses on Tuesday in the Wildcats’ season opener.
Douglass used a big inning — six runs in the third — to key a 13-4 Game 1 success.
Seven different Wildcats had a hit each. Bethany Stucky and Jadah Moore slugged triples, while McKayla Waltner stroked a double. Moore took the loss, though only four of the 13 runs she allowed were earned.
The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning to spark an 8-1 Game 2 victory. The Wildcats put together six singles, but didn’t bunch them together. Waltner picked up two hits to lead the way.
Chelsey Knight took the loss and Moore also pitched.
“I thought we played well for seeing that good of a pitcher (Hannah Foltz) and the speed she brought,” MHS coach Aaron Annis said. “For the first game of the season, we played like a team. Jadah Moore pitched well for us in both games. McKayla Waltner had some nice hits for us as our DP in both games.”
