The McPherson County schools have hired a new director of Special Education! Melissa Strathman has been appointed the new director of McPherson County's Special Education Cooperative affective July 1. The two-year contract was approved this week by USD 418's Board of Education.
“Mrs. Strathman is a highly regarded, strong leader with demonstrated special education expertise," District Superintendent Mark Crawford said in a press release.
"We look forward to having her lead our Special Education staff, direct its programs and collaborate with our four area school districts.
"We are indeed fortunate to have an educator and administrator of her caliber joining us.”
All five McPherson County superintendents were involved in the hiring process, including Inman's new incoming superintendent Scott Friesen.
Strathman currently serves as the assistant director for the County's Special Education Cooperative and brings several years experience serving as the Program Improvement Coordinator as well as a Speech-Language pathologist at the Roosevelt Elementary school in McPherson. She holds a master's degree from Eastern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree with honors from Fort Hays State University (Communication Disorders and Sciences).
