Report: Henson to land head coaching job

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Daily Oklahoman, the state’s largest newspaper, is reporting today that McPherson High graduate and current Oklahoma assistant basketball coach Steve Henson will soon be named the new head coach at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

The Sooners currently are preparing for the Final Four in Houston. They will play KU conqueror Villanova on Saturday.

Henson played for Kruger at Kansas State, earning Big 8 honors, and has served as an assistant to him at UNLV, Illinois and with the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. Henson is a former NBA player who later played overseas.

The Oklahoman also is reporting that Sooners assistant Lew Hill will soon be named head coach at Texas Rio Grande Valley.
