EL DORADO — McPherson High golfer Jacob Lackey hopes it’s a harbinger of things to come.
Lackey opened his season in spectacular fashion on Monday by earning medalist honors in the El Dorado Invitational.
The Bullpup junior carded a 74 to earn medalist honors and help the Bullpups to a second-place team finish.
Small-school power Sacred Heart won the meet with a solid 314, while MHS was second with 335. Winfield was a distant third with 364 and there were six teams total.
MHS had two other Top 10 finishers, Kaden Warren (85) and CJ Steiner (86). Drew Pyle shot 90, while other scores were Casey Cheek (95) and Colten Geren (109).
The Bullpups will be hosting their home invitational on Thursday at Turkey Creek. It’s a 2 p.m. shotgun start and spectators are welcomed, in fact encouraged.
