LINDSBORG — Smoky Valley’s softball team was able to beat the rain and the Nickerson Panthers twice on Tuesday.
The Vikings improved to 4-0 with an impressive sweep of the Panthers, both by the 10-run rule.
Smoky Valley won the first game 18-8 after falling behind 6-0 in the first inning. Megan Sample was the winning pitcher.
Jacque Hulse hit a three-run homer for the big blow. She had two hits and four RBIs. Other standouts were Teagan Miller (two hits, three runs, two RBIs), Haeli Maas (two RBIs), Katie Bellah (two runs), Ally Karber (three runs) and Sample (double, three RBIs).
The Vikings won Game 2, 13-3, as Jordan Otto was the winning pitcher. Offensive leaders were Bellah (two runs), Hulse (triple), Madi Mitchell (4 for 4, two runs, three RBIs), Sample (two hits, one a double), Karber (two RBIs) and Otto (three RBIs).
The Vikings will try to stay perfect on Friday at Kingman.
