The Traffic Stop:

Maximum Speed Limits; (STO #33 and KSA 8-1558 Find the exact wording here: tinyurl.com/hbbsayf)

You’ve no doubt seen the road construction on East Kansas Avenue. This is a project initiated by the Kansas Department of Transportation and is scheduled for completion summer 2017.

Currently, speed limits in the construction zone are reduced to 35 mph, from 45 mph. The zone begins at Eby Street (1700 block of E. Kansas Avenue) and ends east of the interstate (2400 block of E. Kansas Avenue). The entire stretch is designated as a Work Zone which means fines may be doubled. This can be a significant cost to careless drivers. Give the KDOT employees a “brake” and SLOW DOWN. Remember in an area which is congested and traffic flow is restricted the SAFETY of the road workers is the number one factor.

Speeding in the City of McPherson is a moving violation. The MINIMUM fine is $60 and Municipal Court costs are $75.50 which when doubled for a construction zone means more than id="mce_marker"90 at the LEAST and fines climb quickly as does your speed.

On most Tuesdays, McPherson KS Police Department addresses a topic dealing with traffic enforcement in the City of McPherson. The “Traffic Stop” is organized by the Traffic Section of Patrol Bureau. We need suggestions for more topics to address! Call us if ANY question requires an immediate answer on our non-emergency line: (620)245-1200.
