Halinski bowls 300 game, record 849 series; Rawson also bowls 300

It was record-setting night Thursday at Starlite Lanes.

Herb Halinski bowled the all-time high series at the house during the Wendy's Classic League as his 849 included a 300 game and another of 288. He had a 261 for good measure.

"It was just one of those nights," said Halinski, who has been the McPherson High bowling coach since the inception of the program. "The lane condition was great as always. The lanes just didn't break down for me, which allowed me to stay in the same zone. The Roto Grip equipment Skip (Wilson) drilled for me suits my game. The team was playing all in the same part of the lane and helped keep the lane condition the same. I was kind of upset after not shooting 300 the first game, which forced me to focus a little harder. All in all is was a fun night."

It also was a fun night for Nic Rawson, who shared some of the thunder of the night with Halinski by bowling a 300 game of his own. There now have been 14 300 games reported at Starlite this year.
