Wildcats sweep Eagles in softball

MOUNDRIDGE — It was a hitters’ day on Friday when Moundridge swept Canton-Galva in a softball doubleheader.

Both teams’ bats were on fire in Game 1 as the Wildcats outslugged the Eagles for their first win of the year, 22-12.

Ellen Durst, Jasmine Walls, Taylon Potts and Keira Sebrant all had three hits for the Wildcats. Sebrant drove in four runs, while Walls added three RBIs. Those with two were Durst, Potts, Zaelynn Foth and Jadah Moore.

C-G hit the ball as well in its 2016 season debut. Taylor Everett and Sierra Nordstrom had three hits apiece, while Zoe Nichols drove in three runs.

Things settled down a bit in Game 2 as the Wildcats completed the sweep with a 9-7 triumph.

Brynne Wedel slugged her way to a four-RBI game with a pair of hits. Chelsey Knight added two RBIs on two hits. Durst also had two hits.

Nichols had another big game for C-G with two hits and three RBIs. Everett and Zoe Unruh both had two hits as well.
