BENNINGTON — It’s not about quantity for the Canton-Galva girls track and field team, it’s about quality.

The Eagles, despite just four girls competing, were fifth out of 10 teams Friday in the Bennington Invitational.

Maddie Snow won the 400 in 1:04.3, and she placed third in both the long and triple jumps. Katie Fiedler again scored a chunk of points for the Eagles, taking second in the long jump and 100, while placing third in the 400.

The Eagle boys had a pair of sixths, Dylan Wood in the 400 and the 4 x 800 relay team of Wood, Lane Wiens, Dawson Minson and Jonah Sargent.

“Several kids had some great PRs (personal records), but I was especially pleased with the 400 runners' improvements this week,” C-G coach Tina McMannis said. “Those athletes hit some solid times for early in the season. I am also happy with the efforts of the boys running the 4 x 800 relay for the first time this year against teams like Bennington and Clifton-Clyde, who have strong middle distance runners.”

C-G is right back in action Tuesday at Goessel.
