SALINA — After literally being embarrassed on Saturday by Kansas Wesleyan — outscored 43-6 in two humbling losses — McPherson College’s baseball team dusted itself off to gain a split of Sunday’s doubleheader between the schools.

The Bulldogs’ win came in Game 2, 9-3. They pounded out 15 hits, with Trevor Haycock having a big game with a homer and three RBIs. Dylan Klava and Evan Willow pounded out three hits apiece with Willow drove in two. Bryce Strecker chipped in with two hits and two RBIs and Reily Martin furnished two hits.

Lane Fleming was the winner.

KW had captured Sunday’s first game 10-6 despite a nice game from Klava, who smoked two doubles and a single. Lucas Giesey slapped out three singles and drove in three runs. Fleming added two hits.

Mac is now 19-24 on the season, 9-15 in KCAC play. It is home this weekend for a four-game set at Light Capital Diamond against highly regarded Sterling, with Friday’s action beginning at 5 p.m. and Saturday’s time is 3 p.m.
