A concerned citizen inspired the recent decision of the McPherson City Commission to approve the installation of new stop signs at the intersection of Chestnut and Marlin streets.
“There are currently yield signs on Chestnut Street,” explained McPherson Public Works Director Jeff Woodward. “The request is to change the yield signs to stop signs. The intersection does not have adequate stopping sight distance require for a yield sign and does warrant stop signs.”
The request for Chestnut street's yield signs to be changed out for stop signs originally came to the Police Department from a local citizen, an encouragement to all McPherson residents that local authorities do pay attention when citizens suggest solutions for local safety concerns.
The stop signs should be installed by the end of the week.
