Central Christian College’s baseball team, for the second time this year, made things somewhat uncomfortable for KCAC member Bethany College here Tuesday in a single, nine-inning game.

The Swedes, a one-run winner over the Tigers in the first meeting in Lindsborg, again hand their hands full during the game at Light Capital Diamond. Bethany held off Central for a 6-4 victory.

CCC was down 6-2 when it scored single runs in both the eighth and ninth innings, but couldn’t get enough of a rally together to pull off the victory.

Central lost despite out-hitting Bethany 12-10, but five Tiger errors were the difference.

Nate Patterson slashed three hits for the Tigers and drove in two runs. Zane Howard and Kenny Cordova added two hits apiece. Bethany’s Benardo Bonifacio was 3 for 4 to lead the Swedes and Chase Phillips crushed a key two-run, pinch-hit homer.

Central fell to 18-30 on the season while Bethany improved to 20-23.

The Tigers now gear up for a four-game road series this weekend against College of the Ozarks. Bethany has a huge four-game home series this weekend against KCAC power Tabor.
