Baseball Bulldogs swept by Sterling

Sterling College came to town on Thursday to hand McPherson College’s baseball team a pair of losses, dropping the Bulldogs to 9-17 in the KCAC.

Sterling won the first game 6-3, then completed the sweep with an 8-1 triumph.

The Bulldogs were up 2-0 in Game 1 until the Warriors exploded for four runs in the fourth inning to turn the tide.

Mac lost despite outhitting the Warriors, 10-8. Trent Smith, Lucas Giesey, Dylan Fontenot and Jackson Goodmiller all had two hits for Mac.

Sterling improved to 18-8 in KCAC action with an easy win in Game 2, as it led 5-0 after three innings and never looked back. Mac was held to four hits, with the only run provided by a Reily Martin homer.

Matt Bryan had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Mac is now 19-26 overall and hosts the Warriors for two more games today.
