McPherson High’s No. 1-ranked boys tennis team will be hosting the second of its two invitationals on Saturday.
A strong field is expected to gather for the meet, which has a 9 a.m. starting time at the MHS Tennis Complex. There are a handful of other ranked teams in addition to the Bullpups expected to compete, including 5A power Salina Central and 4A state contender Independence. Wichita Collegiate also is expected to be here, but it’s not known whether it will bring its top-line players.
The Bullpups are undefeated so far this season, coming off a championship in the John Markham Spring Classic at Goddard.
The Bullpups have been strong in singles, with Jarrod Nowak and Andrew Snell one of the top 1-2 duos in the state. The doubles team of Nolan Schrader and Kento Aizawa won the Goddard meet last week, while Kaden Stewart and Hadley Hageman had a strong meet as well.
