Chiefs' football schedule announced

The Kansas City Chiefs open their 2016 NFL season Sept. 11 hosting division rival San Diego at Arrowhead Stadium.

The NFL announced its schedule on Thursday.

The Chiefs’ bye week is Oct. 9. They also close the season with the Chargers on the road on New Year’s Day.

Here is the complete schedule:

Sept. 11 — San Diego

Sept. 18 — at Houston

Sept. 25 — New York Jets

Oct. 2 — at Pittsburgh

Oct. 9 — Bye

Oct. 16 — at Oakland

Oct. 23 — New Orleans

Oct. 30 — at Indianapolis

Nov. 6 — Jacksonville

Nov. 13 — at Carolina

Nov. 20 — Tampa Bay

Nov. 27 — at Denver

Dec. 4 — at Atlanta

Dec. 8 — Oakland

Dec. 18 — Tennessee

Dec. 25 — Denver

Jan. 1 — at San Diego
