MHS, Hesston netters still No. 1

McPherson High’s boys tennis team remains No. 1 in the brand-new state rankings announced today.

The Bullpups are just ahead of Wichita Collegiate and Independence, both of which were in their tournament here this weekend that MHS won. Also in the field was Salina Central, the No. 1-ranked team today in Class 5A.

Topeka Hayden and Winfield round out the Top 5 in Class 4A. Others to watch are Abilene, Miege and DeSoto.

Hesston is No. 1 in Class 3-2-1A, just ahead of Conway Springs. The two schools played a dual last Friday with the Swathers winning 7-2. Kansas City Christian is No. 3, followed by Wichita Independent and Central Plains. Hesston defeated Central Plains 5-4 in a dual last week.

Others to watch are Trinity Catholic, Sacred Heart and Sterling.
