SALINA — McPherson High’s Price Kramer placed fourth at No. 1 singles during the Salina Central JV Tennis Tournament on Monday.
Kramer was 2-2 on the day.
Also in singles, at No. 2, Aaron Carlson was 1-3 for eighth.
In doubles, the two MHS teams both lost their first match and eventually played for ninth. Patrick Munsey and Jace Kinnamon went 3-1 on the day and defeated teammates Trey Hett and Lorenzo Cornelious (2-2) in the ninth-place match.
The Bullpups were fourth out of eight teams. Salina Central took first.
“I felt we started out very slow mentally,” MHS coach Noah Lindfors said. “I don't think we were expecting to lose both doubles matches first round. I felt we did a decent job of playing "just get the ball back" tennis, but that was not the goal. We struggled to use smart angles and close the net at the right time. In singles, I felt that we could have played more offense rather than just try to outlast the opponent.”
