HALSTEAD — Smoky Valley’s softball team notched two more wins on Tuesday, improving its record to 9-3 on the season.
The Vikings won the first game 16-10, then completed the sweep with a 7-4 triumph.
In the first game, the Vikes scored six runs in the first inning and eight in the second to bolt to a huge lead, though the Dragons did chip away some the rest of the way.
Megan Sample was the winning pitcher as she’s now 5-3. Offensive standouts were Haeli Maas (three runs), Kelsie Anderson (two runs, two RBIs), Katie Bellah (three hits, one a double, two runs, three RBIs), Ally Karber (two runs) and Jacque Hulse (double, three runs).
In Game 2, the Vikes again did their damage early with all seven runs coming in the first three innings. Jordan Otto remained unbeaten at 4-0, allowing only five hits and never more than one run in an inning.
Maas scored two runs. The Vikings had only two in the game as they took advantage of walks.
The Vikings head to Pratt next Tuesday.
