The McPherson Public Library is starting a Writers Workshop group that will meet every fourth Monday evening of each month starting April 25th. This workshop is open for adults at any level of writing experience and invites new attendees to join at any time.
“We're very excited to have this available to the community again,” enthused Shannon Brake, who shared the goals of the new group.
“Aspiring writers and current writers can meet, share their stories, hear each other's stories, do a nice friendly critique, get ideas, and get inspiration,” Brake explained.
“Just bring your writing, a writing utensil and a notebook and come prepared to have a nice, open, friendly sharing of the minds.
The workshop is not only open to all levels of writing experience but to all types of writing as well, whether it be poetry, small essays, or an aspiring novel. Brake is encouraging everyone to come, write, and share no matter their past writing experience or style.
“It's for anyone at any level of writing, even if you have never written a formal word of writing at all, this is a great place to begin,” she said.
“Any form of writing: poetry; essay writing; if you're working on a novel... Any form of writing is really welcome. The more variety, I think, the better!”
The workshop's first meeting will be next Monday evening from 6:30-7:30 in the McPherson Library's meeting room.
