Swather thinclads take 5th, 6th at Halstead

HESSTON — Hesston High’s track and field teams competed on Friday in the Conrad Nightingale Invitational and faced the toughest competition they have seen this season.

The Hesston girls scored 59 points to take fifth, with Pratt scoring 94 for first. The Swather boys scored 38 1/3 points to place sixth, with Pratt again taking first with 114.

Taylor Valdez scored the only gold medal for the Swather girls by winning the 100. Olivia Brubacher was second in the long jump and Hesston’s 4 x 100 relay team took second as well.

Zach Esau’s second in the 800 was the top Hesston individual boys finish and its 4 x 400 relay team also was second.
