McPherson High’s boys tennis team remains No. 1 in the Class 4A poll of coaches.

The Bullpups are ahead of Wichita Collegiate, Independence, Topeka Hayden and Winfield. Others to watch are Abilene, DeSoto and Miege.

Collegiate, however, outlasted MHS by two points on Saturday to take first in its own tournament. Independence and Hayden took third and fourth, respectively, as the tournament featured only the best of the best.

Hesston is still on top in Class 3-2-1A. It is just ahead of Central Plains, which it defeated in a recent dual. Kansas City Christian is third, followed by Conway Springs and Trinity Catholic. The Swathers also defeated Conway Springs in a recent dual.

Others to watch are Wichita Independent, Sterling and Sacred Heart.
