McPherson Police Officer Jerry Montagne has been selected as the American Legion's Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the state of Kansas.

Each year, The American Legion gives its National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award to a well-rounded law enforcement officer who has exceeded the expected duty requirements and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community service along with professional achievement. The award especially takes into account heroic acts.

Lieutenant Montagne has been with the McPherson Police Department for 25 years and has served in law enforcement for over 30. He will be honored for the award at The American Legion State Convention later this month.
