Good day for MHS JV thinclads

NEWTON — McPherson High’s JV track and field teams came away with several firsts on Tuesday in the Newton Invitational.

The MHS boys, who finished third with 121 1/2 points, were led by gold-medal performances by Nathan Vontz in the 300 hurdles, Tanner Pacey in the javelin and the 4 x 100 relay team of Andrew Powell, Kollin Goering, Jace Kinnamon and Cade Harris.

The MHS girls were sixth with 58 points, but Zaya Goatley doubled by winning the long and triple jumps, while Megan Eisenbarth was first in the discus.
