Swedes haul away many KCAC softball honors

WICHITA — Bethany College’s Kiersten Stolley represented the Swedes on the All-KCAC softball first team announced on Wednesday.

She was chosen as a relief pitcher.

Friends University’s Tony Segovia, a McPherson College graduate, was named Coach of the Year after leading the Falcons to the conference title, while Christina Downs of Friends earned the KCAC Player of the Year award. Jenna Daniel of Oklahoma Wesleyan earned KCAC Pitcher of the Year, Vanessa Oakden of Friends was named Newcomer of the Year and her teammate Isabella Gonzalez is the 2016 Freshman of the Year.

Bethany dominated the second team with five honorees. They included first baseman Jordan Blakesley, second baseman Jenna Carson, third baseman Alyssa Montoya, shortstop Ashley Montoya and pitcher Tiffany Dickerson.

Honorable mention for the Swedes were outfielders Kelsi Henzie and Alyssa Jarman, along with designated hitter Anna Crawford and pitcher Jasmine Stewart.

McPherson College pitcher Sydney Lang and DH Katie Holmes also made the honorable mention team.
