Big sweep for C-G baseball team

GALVA — Canton-Galva’s baseball team got back into the win column on Thursday with a sweep of Lincoln-Sylvan Grove.

The Eagles pounded out a 14-4 decision in Game 1, with five runs in the first inning and six in the fifth providing the impetus.

Jordan Gagnebin pitched six innings for the win, fanning seven and allowing only four hits.

Devyn Elkins, Hunter Pearson and Collin Reissig all ripped three hits. Ethan Loyd, Travis Unruh and Reed Wiens added two each. Wiens had three RBIs, with Loyd, Elkins and Reissig driving in two each.

In Game 2, the Eagles made a late charge for a 13-10 victory, scoring five runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Big games were turned in by Wiens (4 for 4, four RBIs), Loyd (four runs, three RBIs, two hits) and Elkins (three runs).

Loyd picked up the win in relief, allowing only two earned runs in three innings.

C-G is home Monday against Sedgwick.
