MMS netters take 2nd at league meet

DERBY — McPherson Middle School’s boys tennis team took second place on Monday in its first-ever appearance in the Pioneer League Tournament.

The Bullpups received a first-place finish from Drew Schrader at No. 2 singles and had only one finish less than third place in the eight divisions.

Salina Lakewood was the tourney champion in the seven-school event.

Results:

• No. 1 singles - Rhett Edmondson - 2-1 (2nd place)

• No. 2 singles - Drew Schrader - 3-0 (1st place)

• No. 3 singles - Conner Glazner - 2-1 (2nd place)

• No. 4 singles - Logan Hardgrave - 1-1 (3rd place)

• No. 2 doubles - Taylor Miller/Gavin Dobson - 2-1 (3rd place)

• No. 3 doubles - Kade Goss/Tyler Hoxie - 1-2 (4th place)

• No. 4 doubles - Matthew Powers/Bret Eilts - 2-1 (3rd place)
