LYONS — It wasn’t a good start to the day for the Smoky Valley softball team.

The Vikings got off the bus on Tuesday and promptly gave up 11 runs to Lyons in the first inning, as it went on for a 16-8 victory.

The Lions then completed the sweep with an 11-4 triumph.

In Game 1, the Vikings outscored the Lions after the first inning and managed to take it to seven, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.

Kelsie Anderson’s grand slam highlighted the Vikings’ offense. Jacque Hulse collected three hits, one of them a double.

In Game 2, the Lions scored nine runs in a three-inning stretch for the victory. Katie Bellah was on fire for Smoky with three hits and two RBIs. Kira Haxton chipped in with two hits and Hulse added a triple.

The Vikings are now 9-9 on the season and wrap up the regular season on Thursday hosting Larned.
