Pairings for next week’s regional baseball tournaments involving the McPherson area schools have been revealed today by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
In Class 4A Division II, Smoky Valley (5-13) goes to Chapman on Tuesday and will play Concordia (13-3) at 2 p.m. Should the Vikings pull the upset, they would take on the winner of Rock Creek (14-4) and Chapman (6-12) in the 6 p.m. championship game.
In Class 2-1A, three area schools head to Salina for the Sacred Heart regional, which appears to be wide open beginning on Monday.
By winning their last four games, the Moundridge Wildcats secured that all-important top seed and a first-round bye with a 9-8 record.
Canton-Galva (3-13) and Sacred Heart (4-12) play the only game on Monday at 5:30. The winner of that game plays Moundridge at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The 4 p.m. semifinal game matches Inman (7-12) with Bennington (8-11).
The championship game is set for 6 p.m.
Also in Class 2-1A at Ellis, Little River (7-7) is the No. 2 seed and has a first-round bye. The Redskins will play Ell-Saline (8-10) at 4 p.m. on Monday. At 6 p.m., Ellis (12-4) plays the winner of the 2 p.m. game that pairs Leoti (0-20) and Lincoln-Sylvan Grove (0-16).
After the three games on Monday, the championship game is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
