LINDSBORG — Smoky Valley’s softball team will enter next week’s regional on a positive note as it swept Larned in the season finale on Thursday.
The Vikings won the first game 8-2 behind the pitching of Megan Sample, who was able to work around 11 Larned hits. Smoky Valley managed only five hits in the win, including a two-run triple by Halle McClure and a triple by Kelsie Anderson. Ally Karber scored two runs to aid the cause.
In Game 2, the Vikings scored all their runs in the first inning of a 5-4 victory. Jordan Otto was the winning pitcher, with Sample earning a save.
Katie Bellah clubbed a two-run triple for the big hit. Anderson and Jacque Hulse furnished two hits apiece.
The Vikes take an 11-9 record to Hoisington on Tuesday as they take on the host school.
