Due to rain on Monday and Tuesday, three McPherson High athletic teams will find out today if their seasons are extended to next week or if they will put their equipment away for the season.

The MHS golf team treks to Wamego for the Class 4A Regional Tournament. Bullpup coach Kurt Kinnamon was optimistic that with a good day his team could qualify for next week’s state meet in Ulysses, at the worst get through an individual or two.

The MHS softball team was to have played in Hays on Tuesday, but rain forced a one-day delay. The Bullpups are matched against Ulysses at 3:00 and if successful, they most likely would play Hays at 6:00 for the championship. The Indians are expected to breeze past winless Buhler in the 4:30 game.

At Grant Complex today, the Bullpups are hosting a Class 4A Regional Baseball Tournament, expected to be one of the state’s toughest. It also was to have been played on Tuesday, but the outlook is sunny for today.

MHS plays at 2:00 against Ulysses, followed by Buhler against Hays, which in most tournaments would be a championship game. The two winners play at 6:00 for the right to advance to Salina.

Both McPherson games will be aired on 96.7 KBBE with Matt Cole on the play-by-play call.
