CHAPMAN — Smoky Valley’s baseball season ended Wednesday with a narrow 5-3 loss to Concordia in the first round of the Class 4A Division II regional.
The Vikings led 2-0 early, but the Panthers bounced back with three runs. Concordia pushed the lead to 4-2 before the teams swapped runs.
Dylan Goodell pitched a strong game for the Vikings, allowing only three hits. The Vikings had eight of their own, led by Brett Heitschmidt and Ben Weldy with two apiece. Ty Campbell contributed a double.
Smoky Valley ended the season 5-14.
