LINDSBORG – Dalton Stevens is the new head golf coach at Bethany College and he’ll be leading both the men’s and women’s programs.

"In the selection process Dalton's enthusiasm and recruiting ability came to the forefront in the candidate pool. He has been a part of successful programs as a player and as a coach," Bethany Dean of Athletics and Student Development Dane Pavlovich said. "His familiarity with both the NJCAA and the NAIA give him a quality background to move the Swedes’ golf program forward."

Stevens spent one season as an assistant coach at Kirkwood Community College. The men's team won the regional title and will be competing at the NJCAA National Championships.

Stevens formerly was at Iowa Central College for one season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He helped to recruit 40 student-athletes and started a junior varsity program. He also spent time as an intern for Iowa PGA at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside.

Stevens played at Kirkwood Community College. He was a Ping All-Central Region selection and won the Region XI Tournament. He twice earned berths to the NJCAA National Championships. He then went to Saint Xavier University for one year, before transferring closer to home to Mount Mercy University.

"I want to thank Dean of Athletics and Student Development Dane Pavlovich, President Dr. Robert Vogel, Provost Robert Carlson, and all members of the search committee for trusting me with the responsibility to lead the men's and women's golf programs here at Bethany College," Stevens said. "There is a great foundation in place here at Bethany College that I want to build on and continue to grow. I look forward to getting on campus and building relationships throughout the community."

Stevens holds his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Mount Mercy University.
