SALINA — Inman’s baseball team came up one victory short of making a repeat trip to the Class 2-1A State Tournament.

The Teutons’ bats were silenced in Friday’s regional championship game against Sacred Heart, which blanked Inman 5-0.

Noah Tuscan allowed only six hits in taking the loss, with the Knights scoring two runs in the third and fifth innings to key the victory.

The Teutons had been solid in a 7-2 triumph over Bennington in the semifinals. Kane Timmesch went the distance, allowing only five hits. Inman scored five runs in the first inning and were off the scoreboard until the seventh when it added two runs. Both Bennington runs came in the fifth.

Ethan DeWitt’s double was the big blow for Inman, which finished the year 8-13.
