The state high school spotlight today is on golf as, weather permitting, the championship tournaments are being contested at various venues.

McPherson High has two individuals competing in Ulysses. Jacob Lackey earned his way to the 4A State Tournament by winning medalist honors last week at Wamego with a 1-under-par 69.

Also competing for the Bullpups is Casey Cheek, who advanced by earning the final qualifying spot with an 83.

At Salina Municipal, the Hesston Swathers will be competing for a Class 3A team championship after taking first place in the regional last week at Cheney. Competing for Hesston are Trey Denno, Grant Brenneman, Jordan Roth, Trevor Koehn, Tanner Bachman and Tyler Bachman.

Also in Salina, but at Salina Country Club, Inman’s Daniel Swisher is teeing it up today as the lone Teuton representative in the Class 2A Tournament.
