A Kansas Highway Patrol officer narrowly escaped injury Sunday afternoon when a car hit his parked patrol vehicle near the Moundridge exit on interstate 135.

The trooper was assisting a disabled motorist when another vehicle driving northbound clipped his patrol car while changing lanes. The patrol car then struck the disabled vehicle, which in turn struck another car.

Christian Hanson, a 20 year-old from Lindsborg, was the driver of one of the vehicles. Guadalupe Garcia of Wichita was the driver of the parked disabled vehicle. Garcia suffered minor injuries and was transported to Newton Medical Center along with her two passengers, Jorge Concha and a 9yo girl. All three have since been released.

The Kansas Highway Patrol officer was able to jump clear of the crash and was not injured, according to ksn.com.

All of those involved were wearing their seatbelts, according to information from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
