McPherson Area Veterans Hosting Memorial Day Services

McPherson area veterans are hosting Memorial Day services Monday morning, May 30, starting at the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery at 9:00, followed by a second ceremony at the McPherson Cemetery at 10:30. 

Keynote speaker will be Charles “Chuck” Vetter from Washington D.C. Vetter graduated from McPherson High School in 2004, North Park University in 2008, and works for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer. 

He served at the US Embassy in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, from 2011-2013 and the US Embassy in Mexico City from 2013-2015.  

Bagpipers Ian and Charlie Ferguson will provide music. Tom Sheridan, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Commander, will emcee the programs with invocations by Rev. Tim Leaf, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson.  

Mark Casebeer will play Taps at the New Gottland service and Stephen Floyd will play Taps at McPherson Cemetery. 

VFW Post #2715 will provide a Color Guard and the Rifle Detail. Other Color Guards will be provided by American Legion Post #24, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of American Legion. 

The public is encouraged to attend.
