Hesston boys grab gold in 4 x 8 at state

WICHITA — Another state champion for the McPherson area schools.

The Hesston boys’ 4 x 800 relay team took first place today in Class 3A at Cessna Stadium and did so in convincing fashion.

The Swather team of Jon Weber, Zach Esau, Luccas Schmucker and Austin Bollinger rolled to an 8:14.06 to win first place.

Second was Scott City, which ran 8:18.94.

It was the second placer of the day for Hesston. Scott Duerksen had taken seventh in the high jump with a mark of 6-0.
